Edwardian Ruby & Diamond 'Chequerboard' Ring

Circa 1890's, an unusual chequerboard design Ruby and Diamond ring in 18ct yellow Gold and handmade with ribbed shoulders and a smoothed comfy feel upon the finger. The twelve glittery rose-cut Diamonds are all older and recycled at the time of making and contrast prettily with the natural pinky Rubies; all sublimely warm like the glow of a smouldering fire and restrained in design as was the flow at the time towards the Edwardian ideal of refined neatness.

Made by the company of Soloman Brothers & Co of Tenby Street in Birmingham's famous jewellery quarter as shown by the company stamp inside the band. Fully hallmarked at Birmingham but the date letter is obscured, however records say that the serified stamp seen inside was used early 1890's. The ring size can be altered but measures an 'N' or '6.75' as is.
